What Is the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT?
The NUX Mighty Bass 50BT is a compact bass amplifier designed for players who want a simple but capable setup. Even though it is small, it delivers 50 watts of power and includes several modern features.
For example, it supports third-party impulse responses. This means you can shape your bass tone using custom cabinet simulations.
Because of this, the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT works well both as a practice amp and as a small gigging solution.
First Impressions of the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT
At first glance, the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT looks like a typical small bass amp. However, once you pick it up, you notice it has some weight. At 7.2 kilos, it feels solid and well built.
I have reviewed a lot of NUX gear over the years. As a result, I had certain expectations. Fortunately, this amp delivers. Everything feels sturdy, and I would not In this NUX Mighty Bass 50BT review, I’m looking at a compact 50-watt bass combo amp that tries to cover practice, rehearsals and even small gigs in one fairly portable package. It includes modern features like built-in effects, Bluetooth and impulse response support, but the real question is whether it still works as a simple bass amp when you just want to plug in and play.
That is the interesting part. A small bass amp can look great on paper, but bass needs power, low-end control and enough volume to survive in a real band situation. So I wanted to find out whether the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT is just a nice practice amp, or whether it can also handle rehearsals and small live situations.

NUX Mighty Bass 50BT Review: What Is It?
The NUX Mighty Bass 50BT is a compact bass amplifier designed for players who want a simple but capable setup.
It is small enough to work as a home practice amp, but it also has enough power to make sense for rehearsals and smaller gigs. That is already an interesting balance, because many small bass amps are useful at home but start to fall apart once a drummer appears.
The Mighty Bass 50BT also includes several modern features. You get built-in effects, Bluetooth, app/editor support and third-party impulse response loading. That means you can use custom cabinet simulations to shape your bass tone more than you might expect from a small combo amp.
Because of that, the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT is not just a basic plug-in-and-play practice amp. It is closer to a compact bass rig with some useful modern tools built in.
First Impressions of the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT
At first glance, the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT looks like a typical small bass amp. However, once you pick it up, you notice that it has some weight to it.
At 7.2 kilos, it still feels portable, but it does not feel flimsy. That is important. A practice amp can be light and cheap-feeling, but a rehearsal amp needs to feel like it can actually survive being moved around.
I have reviewed a lot of NUX gear over the years, so I had certain expectations going in. Fortunately, this amp delivers a good first impression. The controls feel sturdy, the build quality feels solid, and I would not hesitate to bring it to rehearsals or small gigs.
That is probably the first big win here. The amp feels more serious than its size might suggest.
Using the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT at Home
At home, the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT is very easy to understand.
The control layout is clear, and the most important functions are available directly from the amp. That matters, because I do not want every practice session to start with an app, a firmware update or a menu-diving adventure.
You can plug in, set a tone and start playing quickly.
The Bluetooth support also makes sense for practice. Being able to play along with songs or backing tracks is genuinely useful, especially if the amp is going to live in a home practice setup.
The built-in effects are another nice addition. They are not the main reason I would buy the amp, but they make it more flexible and more fun to use.
Using the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT at Band Rehearsal
The most surprising thing about the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT was how well it handled rehearsal volume.
During rehearsal, the amp was louder than I expected. I only needed to set the volume around 12 o’clock to keep up with the band, which is impressive for a small bass combo.
That does not mean this is suddenly a massive stage amp. It is still a compact 50-watt combo, and expectations should stay realistic. But for rehearsals, small gigs and controlled live situations, it has more power than its size suggests.
The built-in kickstand also helps. When the amp is on the floor, the kickstand tilts the sound upward, which makes it easier to hear yourself. That is a simple feature, but it matters a lot in practice.
Small bass amps can disappear quickly when placed on the floor. Tilting the speaker toward your ears makes the amp much more useful.
How Does the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT Sound?
The NUX Mighty Bass 50BT sounds better and bigger than I expected from a compact bass amp.
The tone holds up well in a mix, which is probably the most important thing. A bass amp does not need to sound impressive only when you play alone. It needs to sit properly with drums, guitars and vocals.
In rehearsal, the amp had enough volume and enough low-end presence to feel usable. It did not feel like I was fighting it the whole time, which is always a good sign.
The impulse response support also adds a lot of flexibility. Being able to load third-party IRs means you can shape the cabinet side of the tone in a more detailed way. That is not something I would have expected from a small practice-oriented bass combo a few years ago.
So while the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT is easy to use, it is not completely basic. There is more tone-shaping power here than the size suggests.
Built-In Effects, IR Support and the Editor
The NUX Mighty Bass 50BT keeps the front panel simple, but some of the deeper features live in the app or desktop editor.
For example, you need the editor for loading impulse responses and accessing some extra tools like the drum machine. That makes sense, because the amp itself stays clean and uncluttered, while the deeper editing is still available when you want it.
Compared to some other NUX modelers, the Mighty Bass 50BT feels more focused. It does not overload you with endless options. Instead, it gives you a useful selection of amp sounds and effects.
I think that is the right approach for this kind of amp.
A small bass combo should not feel like homework. It should be easy to use first, and deeper only when you need it.
What I Liked About the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT
There is a lot to like here.
The size is practical, but the amp still feels solid. It is compact enough for home use, rehearsals and small gigs, but it does not feel like a toy.
The volume was also a pleasant surprise. It kept up in rehearsal better than I expected, and the built-in kickstand made it easier to hear myself.
I also like the balance between simplicity and modern features. You can use the amp without thinking too much, but IR support, Bluetooth, built-in effects and editor access give it more depth when you want to explore.
That is exactly the kind of balance I like in practice gear.
What Could Be Improved?
The main issue I encountered was the XLR output running slightly hot.
Luckily, that was easy to fix by lowering the impulse response volume in the editor. Still, it is worth mentioning because direct outputs are important if you want to use the amp in live or recording situations.
The amp model and effect selection is also somewhat limited compared to larger NUX units. That is not a huge problem, because this amp is clearly meant to stay focused and simple. But if you want a deep all-in-one bass modeler, this may not be the right product.
For what it is, though, the limitations make sense.
Is the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT Worth It?
Yes, I think the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT is worth it.
It is a small bass amp that does not feel as limited as you might expect. It works well for home practice, has enough volume for rehearsals, and can even handle small gigs in the right situation.
The build quality is solid, the controls are easy to understand, and the tone holds up better than I expected from a compact combo amp.
The modern features also help. Bluetooth makes practice easier, IR support adds tone-shaping flexibility, and the editor gives you access to deeper options without making the front panel messy.
The XLR output running a little hot was the only real issue I ran into, but that was easy enough to fix.
Overall, I am genuinely impressed with the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT.
Final Thoughts on the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT
The NUX Mighty Bass 50BT is a very practical little bass amp.
It is small enough to work at home, loud enough to survive rehearsals, and flexible enough to be more than just a basic practice combo. The built-in effects, Bluetooth and impulse response support make it feel modern, while the simple control layout keeps it approachable.
That combination is what makes it stand out.
It is not a huge stage amp, and it is not trying to replace a full professional bass rig. But as a compact bass combo for practice, rehearsals and smaller gigs, it makes a lot of sense.
If you are looking for more compact bass gear, I also reviewed the Valeton Dapper Bass Mini, which takes a very different pedal-based approach to a small bass rig.
So if you want a small bass amp that can do more than sit quietly in the corner of a bedroom, the NUX Mighty Bass 50BT is definitely worth checking out..
